To research; just put them on your boot

Manila ranks sixth among 19 major cities for women in particular, at least according to a survey by the Thompson Reuters Foundation.

The cities were rated on 1. Sexual Violence 2. Healthcare 3. Culture 4. Economic Opportunity. The results: London is Number One for women followed by Tokyo and Paris. But ladies stay away from Cairo because that place is very dangerous for you.

Manila is in sixth place so stay away from 13 other cities. In terms of health care, Manila takes a 9e place in, culturally a 6e and pay close attention to the economic opportunities an honorable third place. In short, I don't believe it at all. But it is written in capital letters in The Philippine Star and newspapers never lie! It is not stated in which place Bangkok is classified.

Best island in the world

Let me now have thought that we would be very successful with Schiermonnikoog or Vlieland, none of that because it is the island of Boracay in the Philippines. According to the international traveler magazine Condé Nast Traveler. The small island, measuring just under 4 square miles, is a tropical idyll with a stunning coastline, beautiful sunsets and captivating nightlife, according to the study. After Boracay, Cebu and Palawan follow and then Condé Nast Traveler proclaims that Cebu City has much more to offer than, for example, the Thai 'wild' Phuket. The place also has a lot of restaurants and shopping possibilities. Incidentally, Thailand does not appear in the list of the best ten. Most tourists come from South Korea and China.

Own experience

I have visited Cebu, Palawan and Boracay, but to put it mildly, I have to laugh at so much nonsense. Cebu has beautiful beaches, Palawan is well worth a visit and small Boracay is busy, very busy, but you can enjoy delicious fish and shellfish. Something that I cannot say about Cebu City, ergo most restaurants are far below par for such a place and so are the shopping options.

Don't know how much the Tourism Office had to pay for this piece of promotion. The article made me think back to a study in the Netherlands on which someone obtained his PhD. The PhD student came to the surprising conclusion that the sparrows in the countryside chirp differently than their counterparts in the city.

Look, at least you have something to do with that, but I ignore that nonsense from the Traveler Magazine.

    Your story touched my heart. Especially when it comes to Thailand, the articles are about tourism
    attractions usually go grossly exaggerated. All the places I have visited here are praised to heaven. But unfortunately the reality is inexorable. There must be a whole system behind this to inform tourists. Thailand is OK but don't overdo it.

    Boracay is a terrible island, over-commercialized, lots of conflict and crime, noisy discos and you can't really swim because of the many bangkas that sail there and the dense seaweed.

    According to the TAT, more and more tourists are coming to Thailand.

    Increasingly higher percentages and greater turnover!
    Where these people go or where they stay is a big question mark!

      They are probably more tourists, because the airports are bursting at the seams, but they (Chinese) usually only come for a few days.

      But jet fuel sales will undoubtedly increase, unless, of course, it is bought exclusively in China.

    The offensive to rescue Boracay has been going on for years.
    See, among other things, the first 17 references under the article about the island in Wikipedia.

    For a holiday with a rain guarantee, you are in the right place to spend the winter. In the months of October, November, December and January, the average number of days with rain per month is 30, 30, 31 and 31 (!).
    Between October 1 and January 31, it is therefore dry on an average of 1 day in October.
    Ok, it doesn't rain all day, but 305 rainy days a year with a total of 1986 millimeters can be mentioned.
    Since 2011, the Megaworld Corporation has been investing around PHP 20 billion in tourism development, so the occasional advertorial will do.

    You don't have to ignore research, but you do have to remain critical. In terms of research, that means checking:
    – who conducted the research (independent institution or not);
    – among which people (the sample: how many people were interviewed);
    – how (questionnaire, telephone, online);
    – with which question;
    - in what year.
