If you ever feel the need to visit something beautiful, you could think of Wat Yansangwararam about 20 kilometers south of Pattaya (near the Nong Nooch Tropical Garden).

What? Another What? Yes, but this one is completely different from when one thinks of a Wat alone. It is a very impressive temple complex not only because of its grand architecture, but also because it is located in this beautiful landscape with hills and lakes.

Impressive is the temple roof with the different tapered shapes covered with gold leaf, which reflects the sunlight beautifully.
Furthermore, the variety in the architecture of both Thai and Chinese buildings is striking, but also the construction of the park-like landscape in which it is included. Very famous at this temple is the chedi or pagoda, a white tapered shape that houses the relics of Lord Buddha, the so-called 'Maha Chari Phiphat'.

Another impressive building is the Mondop, which is square in structure with four small towers surrounding it. Also on the site is the Viharm museum built in Chinese style with a lot of Chinese art. This temple complex is under the patronage of the king and is considered an extremely fine example of Thai architecture with a modern sculpture.

There is an important 'ubosot' or space where people are called to participate. You are of course free to do so. You can, however, participate in the so-called meditation classes throughout the day. There are different levels, depending on the experiences of the participants. In addition, one can attend the various rituals internally for a few days.

The day starts with meditation at 4.00:6 am, a very frugal meal is served at 12.00:21.00 am and the sessions continue until noon. For the second time there is dinner and it is also the last time of the day. At XNUMX everyone goes to rest. Own clothing is not allowed, only long white clothing that is for sale in shops.

If you just want to enjoy the beautiful buildings and the surrounding landscape, it is definitely worth a visit. There is also, Thai own, food and drinks for sale everywhere and you can enjoy the surroundings on benches in various places.

From Jomtien towards Sattahip; after 12 kilometers turn left into the “inland”. It is clearly marked on signs.

Another tip for motorcyclists. (Car drivers are also allowed)
Coming from this Wat, turn left at the roundabout towards Silver Lake (6 km)
A beautiful road with many hairpin bends and height differences.
And all that just 12 km from Jomtien!

    Sincerely,
    Lodewijk

A nice route indeed, watch out for the monkeys, and the route also leads along the Bhudda mountain, worth a stop. And for the enthusiasts there is the Silverlake Vineyard.

Nice temple complex. I'm going to play golf with a Thai Navy friend of mine in Sattahip in May. Will definitely go there

I myself have also visited the Wat Yan and the Viharn museum. Absolutely worth it. Also great to combine with The Buddha rock. I visited this rock in 1996 when people were still working on it.
