Thailand will participate in the International Horticultural Expo (EXPO 2022 Floriade Almere) which will be held between April 14 and October 9, 2022 in Almere, the Netherlands.

Permanent Secretary of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Thongplew Kongjan, together with Ambassador Remco van Wijngaarden and other senior officials, attended a press conference on March 21, 2022 about Thailand's participation in the horticultural exhibition.

The EXPO 2022 Floriade Almere is organized under the theme 'Growing Green Cities', which presents the creative, green, sustainable solutions needed to make this happen in collaboration with national and international participants.

Dr. Thongplew indicated that Thailand would participate in the Floriade event under the theme “TRUST Thailand. “TRUST – Trendy, Accessible, Safety, Sustainability and Technology – aims to create trust in the quality and standards of Thailand's agricultural and health products.

He said the Floriade would be a platform for Thailand and other participants to exchange views on horticulture and expand their cooperation while raising awareness of environmental conservation and sustainable development. It will also provide Thailand with an opportunity to showcase its potential and progress in agricultural development. Thailand's sub-theme at this event includes “3S” – Safety (food safety), Security (food safety) and Sustainability (sustainability of the agricultural sector). This is in line with the main idea of the theme “Growing Green Cities. ”

Thailand will also present its policy on the application of the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy Model and on the introduction of “Smart City”, which will help promote Thai agricultural products to international consumers. Participation in the EXPO 2022 Floriade Almere offers Thailand a good opportunity to celebrate the 2022th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and the Netherlands in 418.

The opening of the Thailand Pavilion at this event will take place on April 14. This with various activities to celebrate Songkran, the traditional Thai New Year. The Thailand Week event, featuring many Thai cultural activities, will be held on July 28 to mark the birthday of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochoyuhua (Rama X).
