Sara Kroos in Hua Hin

Anyone who was not present yesterday at the evening of the NVT in Hua Hin has missed a special opportunity. An opportunity to have a good laugh at a lady who is able to surprise and captivate the audience with a flood of jokes and jokes. But certainly also with a loving message, beautiful songs and touching moments.

All the ingredients for an unforgettable evening were present, such as a beautiful location: the golf club of the Banyan in Hua Hin, delicious food and a large turnout. The board of the NVT Hua Hin/Cha-am had put its shoulders to the wheel and it showed.

I was allowed to sit at a table with five other gentlemen, in front of the stage. And just like in the front row with figures such as Youp van 't Hek, you know that it is your turn. That was also the case with Sara in this case. The table with only gentlemen of a more mature age was treated to a lot of teasing from Sara, which led to great hilarity among those present. However, unlike Youp, Sara does not spare herself either. Self-mockery is perhaps the most powerful tool for a comedian and she understands that better than anyone.

The choice to combine a large part of her successful performance 'Van Jewelste' with improvisation and fun recognizable anecdotes about Thailand felt like a tailor-made suit. Just right, a hit.

The musical accompaniment of the whole provided a moment of reflection and contrast. Listen especially to her beautiful lyrics that make your mind wander for a while. These moments of peace are certainly useful for a somewhat older audience, because Sandra continues her performance with great energy at a frantic pace and one joke has not yet arrived or another is already waiting on the doorstep.

Although I don't want to reveal anything about the content of her program, I really liked the rendition of the song 'Het Dorp' by Wim Sonneveld. Around me I saw a number of those present swallowing and wiping away a tear here and there, as inconspicuously as possible, of course, because we are all big guys.

Perhaps that is also the essence of the evening. Sara knows how to hit you. She tickles, she teases, she mirrors and she makes you cry. Even if it's not from sadness, it's from laughter...
