Sinterklaas is very busy this year in Thailand. First he goes to Pattaya on November 28, then to Bangkok on December 5 and to Hua Hin on December 6 and of course he also takes the cozy Zwarte Pieten with him.

Santa Claus Festival Pattaya

During the drink on the last Thursday of November, on the 28th, in the Moon River Pub, the NVP will restore an old tradition. Sinterklaas comes by again and with him two employees. It will be a pleasant Dutch evening and all children are of course welcome. If you are planning to come with your child, it is good to send some information to Marjolein Bakker. He then ensures that all data is entered in the large Sinterklaas book. For more information: www.nvtpattaya.org/

Sinterklaas is of course also coming to Bangkok! Together with his loyal (black) helpers, Saint Nicholas visits the Dutch embassy on 5 December. Reason that afternoon for a grand Dutch Sinterklaas party. It will start at 15:00 and everyone is welcome at the embassy.

  • When: December 5 from 15.00 – 17.00 (please be on time!! Registration desks open at 14.30).
  • Where: Dutch Embassy, Soi Thonson entrance (BTS Ploenchit or Chidlom). Parking is not allowed at the embassy.
  • Costs: free entrance for NVT members, 400 tB per person for non-NVT members (water and soft drinks included).
  • Bring: 1 gift for each child (name and age clearly written on it, guideline: max 500 Bt) and 1 passport per family for identification.
  • Register: before December 1 as via [email protected] (please provide name and age of children and names of adults).

Program for the afternoon:

The Sinterklaas party starts at 15:00 in the garden of the embassy. The Pieten are already there to welcome everyone. Accompanied by the pianist we sing Sinterklaas songs and Sinterklaas will arrive in the garden of the embassy around 15:15 pm, in a completely Thai way. We are already looking forward to his arrival!

While the children come to Saint Nicholas in groups (according to age), the other children can play all kinds of games and even get the Piet diploma. Around 16:45 it is unfortunately time for Saint Nicholas to say goodbye again. His helpers then hand out the presents and chocolate letters to the children.

Household notices:
Soft drinks and water are free on that afternoon. The Dutch snacks (including croquettes, fries) and the beer are for your own account.

Safety:
There are water features in the garden of the embassy. These will be trimmed with ribbon. However, we strongly advise parents to keep a close eye on their children. Furthermore, the pepernoten are made in a factory that also processes nuts.

See you on December 5!

Sinterklaas party Hua Hin

The Sinterklaas party in Hua Hin is celebrated extensively on December 6 at the new location: The Three Girls. Saint Nicholas wanted it on this day, so of course we do.

It will be a party for young and old in a traditional atmosphere with two Black Petes. Gifts can simply be taken to the drinks location. Santa has agreed to a poem contest.

  • Santa will arrive at approximately 19.30:XNUMX PM
  • The Sinterklaas party is free

Luckily no Zwarte Piet madness there. And that pleases me. Another very nice Sinterklaas party. Also good to read that there is an upper limit on the gifts (1 per child with a maximum value of 500 Bt). That has been well thought out. So not one child a pair of new socks and the other child an Apple iPhone. Tribute.

I do not know how it happened? Sint-Niklaas (derived from Sint-Nicolaas) is still laced in Belgium. The Sint or the high holy man has been corrupted into Sinterklaas in the Netherlands. Probably has to do with the influence of faith? Similarly, Christmas has been diluted into a commercial hassle and the essence is forgotten
