Last week a visit to the Kui Buri National Park was on the program of our 2-week motorbike tours. At 11 o'clock the gathering was blown at the Parking of the Big C in Hua Hin. No less than 18 bikers showed up and under the guidance of Jos and Robert, the long string of riders headed south towards Pran Buri.

After an hour of biking we had a short coffee stop and then drove towards Sam Roi Yot National Park, a very familiar location for us because many of our tours run through the park. Around 13 pm we had a lunch stop in an original decorated coffee shop near Kui Buri.

Afterwards it was another hour's drive to the Wildlife Watching Area. 3 pick-up trucks with guides and chaperones were waiting for us on arrival and we could immediately start our game drive.

After driving through the jungle for a while we stopped at the first stop. There could be elephants at this lake. Our long squinting through the binoculars was not rewarded. The rangers tried to communicate with each other to find out where the elephants were hiding. This took a while. We continued to our second stop. 'Over there! In a great plain, a whole herd of elephants, count quickly, 2, 20? Count again, yes there were at least 25 in small groups, many mothers surrounded by baby elephants were quietly grazing about 25 meters from the trucks, some were playing in the sand and water. We approached ourselves to about 100 meters and then stopped.

Take photos, videos, binoculars and admire this impressive spectacle for an hour. None of the elephants looked up for a second, had they not seen us or were they pretending? Slowly the herd moved westward in small groups, probably a number of families together. Everyone was happy because we were able to experience this spectacle. On the way back, a lone elephant passed by, according to the guide, a young male looking for a female. A little further on we saw a herd of water buffalo, at least 10, between the trees. We stopped to take some quick pictures, but they had spotted us and quickly disappeared into the dense forest.

Kui buri national park is about 110 km southwest of Hua Hin. Tours are available from 14:00 PM, but due to the heat, most animals don't show up until late afternoon. Cost is THB 850 per pick-up truck (including driver and guide). A pick-up truck can seat 6 to 8 people. You also have to pay an entrance fee for the national park: THB 200 per adult and THB 100 per child.

Biker boys Hua Hin are a group of friends who meet every 2 weeks (1th in 3. de Sunday of the month) under the guidance of Robert and Jos from Hua Hin make a day trip of about 150-200 km to various fascinating destinations. Participants is an international audience. Participation is free. Small motorbikes are used, usually Honda PCX 150 (150 cc). Everyone with some bike riding experience is welcome.

Nice trips, too bad there is nothing here in the Isaan, such a club of bikers on PCX motorbike.
Went out more often with a friend of mine but sadly passed away last year.
