Lieke de Wildt, a master's student at Wageningen University, who conducts research in the insect industry in Thailand, enlists the help of people who are involved in cultivating edible insects.

We will all benefit from it in the future, although we may have to get used to the thought.

Liege writes:

The insect chain has been developing rapidly in recent years and is increasingly being used as a source of protein for humans. However, this emerging industry is not yet as well developed everywhere as in Thailand, the leader in the insect industry.

In the edible insect supply chain, it is important to reduce post-harvest losses so that more people can be fed, which is especially important in poor countries in Africa.

So I'm doing a study on how to reduce post-harvest losses in the edible insect supply chain, focusing on crickets. Here I look at what the emerging industry in Africa can learn from the already advanced industry in Thailand.

Some factors influencing post-harvest losses have already been found through the literature, but in order to specify and verify this I am looking for farmers and edible insect processors in Thailand who can tell me more about this.

So if you are working in the edible insect industry in Thailand and would like to contribute to optimizing the insect chain, please contact me at: [email protected]

I think it's an interesting question!!
Have eaten fried insects but actually thought it had a "fried bacon" taste to it.
This was in Pattaya, but where do these insects actually come from?
