It is sad to read how someone is killed for not paying back 3000 Baht. Jirayu, 23, had borrowed money from his former boss, a police volunteer, and still hadn't paid it back.

After many attempts to get the money back, Somkiat tried another way. He lured Jirayu to a warehouse to have a drink and talk together. When he arrived at the warehouse, a few other people were waiting there. The conversation escalated and took a violent turn. Jirayu was knocked unconscious.

Along with three others, also police volunteers, the unconscious body was placed in a truck and driven to a nearby pond in Nongprue. There Weerawong knocked the head off the body with a kick, which was later found in another place and was ultimately the definitive cause of death.

Later when the police recovered some property at the crime scene including a Facebook account that led to Somkiat. Somkiat claimed that one of the accomplices committed the murder. The other perpetrators were also taken into custody. The four have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

Jirayu's family said the victim had been missing for about a week.

Yes, Thailand is also a country that, behind that slogan land off smiles, is also extremely violent.
Open the Thai newspapers and you will be amazed at everything that happens often for a few baths or honor / loss of face or for almost nothing.
I think that should be considered more often, because that too is amazing Thailand and not just the beautiful beaches and the delicious food…

In my opinion, this has a lot to do with a lack of logical thinking and a misplaced sense of macho behavior.
Arrested for murder due to claim TBH 3.000! How smart are you then? And then also – apparently – thinking you can get away with it. That is of course not a textbook example of logical thinking in advance. But yes, many Thais (especially the gentlemen) have a less well-developed sense of looking ahead and thinking logically. They are apparently still stuck in prehistoric times and hit directly on top of it.

How many years will the lender get? Let's say 5 years. So TBH 600 per year. He would therefore have been better off amortizing that loan in 5 years. Well, bruised egos, huh?
