The committee overseeing the government's Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) plans urged Pattaya to put its waste and sewage treatment systems in order to boost tourism in the East.

EEC Secretary Knit Sangsuwan, committee members and advisers met Pattaya Mayor Sonthaya Kunplome and his top deputies at City Hall March 11. The agenda included the Covid-19 coronavirus, tourism projects and infrastructure.

The panel optimistically stated that the global coronavirus pandemic would ease and everything would return to normal in April. Therefore, they said, the cities in the EEC area should organize "cleaning days".

The Commission has also requested Pattaya to submit a new list of essential tourism projects to develop the industry.

Finally, the panel recommended that Pattaya submit a new plan for the waste collection and disposal system if the current one continues to fall short.

Similarly, Pattaya needs to repair and fix its two sewage treatment plants as they are poorly maintained and operate at less than half capacity. For example, the EEC committee said that Pattaya must come up with an action plan to actually make the system work as intended.

It is remarkable that the panel underestimates the corona virus so much and wants to use tourism projects as a "boost" for industrial development.

Probably the EEC means the tourist industry?

Probably the weather will be a lot of bleating, but little wool?
    Big cleaning days?
Collecting waste, which probably no one knows where to go if it has been collected and which is therefore probably just dumped in another place.
And it is possible that the sewage treatment plants work at half capacity, but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't work at all.

And well, where will the money come from to make everything right?

Where the money should come from is now the question and so a good excuse the corona virus does not bring in any money but when a lot of money came in for years nothing was done either so why now suddenly.
The power and nonsense stories from the city council to the government.

Very good that there is control.
This just needs to be done more often
When things are not in order, there must be consequences.

Every day I cover the distance from my app to Central Festival.. also along different streets and what do I see?
Sewers have been full of leaves and other waste for years.
In my street there is a sewer drain that is full of empty packs of cigarettes..other people who cook on the street there pour their dirty oil into the sewer.Terrible…I dare not say anything…

If their franc only falls now, it's pretty late. When I first came to Pattaya (1977) you could see the fish swimming in the sea at 3 meters deep. If you go into the sea now, you can't even see your feet when you step into the water.
They have been saying for years that something has to be done but never when.
In short: the sea is taboo for me. Just give me the pool at my hotel.
