Pattaya authorities continued their crackdown on illegal hotels and checked properties on Beach Road, Second Road and Third Road. Along with others, Pattaya police chief Pol. Col. Apichai Kroppech on May 1 inspections in this area.

The majority of hotels, guesthouses and smaller apartments with daily and monthly rents lack a lodging rental license. Most of the checked accommodations were foreign owned and a large number had employees, all of whom were taken to the police station to have their visas and work permits verified.

All hotels will be given the opportunity to present the appropriate permits or submit an application if necessary. If they don't follow the rules, court orders will be issued to shut them down.

Individuals may not rent their condos to a person or persons for less than 1 month, as this would otherwise fall under the category of hotels. This requires a different permit and must meet the conditions of a hotel.
