Questioner: Ed

I read Thailandblog's posts every day. I also want to emigrate to Thailand in 1 year, so I am very interested in the information of the visa requirements for a retirement visa. Now I recently saw on the site of the Thai embassy in The Hague that the monthly income or your annual bank deposit has increased considerably (for example, from 65.000 baht to 80.000 baht per month).

Haven't read this anywhere in your blog yet, and many sites still show the old amounts (such as https://immigrationbangkok.com/thai-retirement-visa-2/)

Did I miss something here do you know about this?

Officially, a “Retirement visa” does not exist. It is true that everyone calls it "Retirement visas" for convenience, even if it concerns extensions of stay that are requested for reasons of "Retirement".

Immigration does that, by the way.

One of those visas is a Non-immigrant OA visa and the embassies of The Hague and Brussels have indeed recently increased the financial requirements to apply for that visa. There is no information about this in Thailand and many other embassies continue to apply the old financial requirements. The old financial requirements also still apply to annual extensions (Retired) in Thailand.

I cannot answer why things are suddenly different in Brussels and The Hague and you have to ask the embassy yourself.

By the way, it was already reported on TB in mid-November.
