Kasikorn Bank app does not work on my new tablet

A few months ago I bought a new tablet in the Netherlands. It became a Samsung Galaxy S8. Almost all apps can be downloaded again. However, the K+ app did not cooperate. So impossible.

The old tablet still worked, so it was not urgent yet and would look further in Thailand. Once there, directly to the local Kasikorn Bank. There, after some discussion, it became clear that a purchase of the tablet outside Thailand was the problem. I think the choice is:

  • Only the old-fashioned way with a transfer form at the bank or Debit card or
  • switch to another bank.

To my account via the bank's website has not been possible for a long time and not until at least the end of 2022.

Too bad I was very used to the App.

A possible problem may be that you have a VPN connection open with a location outside Thailand.
In that case delete the search engine history and restart the search engine and if you are in NL set the location to TH. In TH it can be done with or without a local VPN.

Good tip! Also discovered that the K+ App doesn't work if you install it outside of TH. But with this trick.

I had the same thing when I bought a new phone. I'm going to try it tomorrow with a VPN, but I have my doubts if it works. Let you know

You can still use the desktop version instead of the App using username, password and SMS confirmation. You can easily continue anywhere and on any device.

Small addition: Internet banking is what this is called, by the way, you can also do it on your mobile. Then you don't have to go to the bank old-fashioned like you write.

When I wanted to install the app on my NL Nokia in 2020, the local bank also said that it is not possible on a non Thai device..
At the headquarters of the Kasikorn it worked out..

My Thai wife had the same problem after purchasing a new smartphone in the Netherlands at the beginning of this summer. Went to the local Kasikorn a few weeks ago (during our holiday in Thailand). Reinstalled the app and let it activate with a Thai SIM card. Everything worked on her NL smartphone. Back in the Netherlands, the app works without any problems via our WiFi network.

Kasikorn employee indicated that MAC address of mobile device is registered and serves as verification (“underwater”). That is why the app no longer works on a new device. Must then be reactivated. Somewhat strange construction but that would be the reason….

Local banks are often not familiar with technical details and certainly not if it deviates from the standard (Thai). This is also my experience. After a telephone conversation with the central service department from Bangkok of my Thai bank, I succeeded. We'll just say "If a farmer can't swim, it's on the water"

The Kasikorn app has been installed on my (Thai) phone, but now I can no longer log in via my laptop.

Just do it manually via the desktop version. Do not use the app, just log in online yourself. Works anytime, anywhere.

Thanks for the many suggestions and tips as applicable.
According to Kadikorn, internet banking is not working for the time being because it was never used. Clear cache, okay. From the old tablet where the K+ app is still installed or on the new tablet?
Incidentally, the head office in Bangkok also announced: It was not purchased in Thailand. Soon I will visit another Kadikorn Bank in Roi-Et.
I get the feeling that I haven't met the right person there yet!

    Dear André,

For now, just use the app on your old tablet.
The app on your new tablet can only be activated when you are in Thailand. (via Thai sim).
The latest version of the Kasikorn banking app only works on one device, ie if you activate it on a "new" device (smartphone / tablet), the app will no longer work on the previously used device.
(older versions did work on multiple devices)

    grtz,

In 2016, during a visit to Thailand, I opened an account with Kasikorn and immediately asked for internet banking. I was given provisional login details via e-mail that were only valid for a short time.

Back in Belgium I logged into the Kasikorn site with the provisional login details. Afterwards they had to be changed. Multiple transactions made from Belgium, but they all had to be confirmed by entering an OTP (one time password) that I received by text message and was only valid for 5 minutes.

I have been living in Thailand for 5 years and also wanted to install the K+ app on my Belgian smartphone. It did not work. Information requested via the Kasikorn contact center (+66 2 888 8888). There I was told that the K+ app was region-bound and could only be downloaded in Thailand. Because it didn't work on my smartphone, the employee suggested 3 solutions:

    – buy a smartphone in Thailand and download the app on it
    – change my existing Google account from region 'Belgium' to region 'Thailand'. I was told that something like this could be done once a year and would be active within 1 hours. With me within the hour. I was helped step by step by the perfect English speaking employee on the phone.
    – create a second Google account with a different name with Thailand as the region on my existing Belgian smartphone and download the K+ app from that account.

I have no experience with the app on a tablet because I have it on a smartphone. However, most banks have separate apps for smartphones and tablets.
I suspect that internet banking via the website (not via the app) of the bank on an Android tablet (your Samsung) will not work because the website does not “see” a Windows or MacOS operating system. That's the reason why they make an app especially for tablets.

I recommend that you contact Kasikorn bank customer service and not the counter staff in the branches.

    Good luck

Well Josh, your guess is wrong. It is a pity that people are constantly being presented with incorrect information. If you report something based on suspicions, we are no further forward.

FYI: internet banking that runs in a browser does not care about the operating system of your PC. And this is not based on conjecture but on facts.

        Hi Bart,

You are absolutely right. Although I only bank via the internet on the laptop, I have just tried it via both the Edge, Chrome and Firefox browsers on my Android tablet. And it works.
Thanks for the rectification. Learned something again.

I'm glad you're taking this sportively Jos!

I am an IT professional by training and to be honest I sometimes scratch my head when I read some of the comments.

I am aware that not everyone has the same knowledge, especially when it comes to computers and software. And I have full respect for that. But sometimes I have the impression that some here are 'self-made specialists'. And let it be just those people who think they have a monopoly on the truth.

PS: It happens very often that some software works well in a certain browser and then not in another browser. This can sometimes be annoying.
