Travel organization Corendon has a complete Boeing 747-400 transported from Schiphol to the Corendon Village Hotel in Badhoevedorp in February. There the device is placed in the garden.

The specialized transport company Mammoet has been hired for the mega job. This will transport the 150-tonne aircraft from the airport to the hotel in five days from Tuesday evening, February 5. During that spectacular last journey, the Boeing has to cross 17 ditches, highway A9 and a provincial road.

Former KLM aircraft 'City of Bangkok'

The Boeing 747 is the former KLM 'City of Bangkok' aircraft that will be given a new final destination after 30 years of loyal service. According to KLM the Boeing has made 134.279 flight hours in the last three decades. In other words, as many as 15,7 years of non-stop flying, which is more than half the number of years of service. The Jumbo made 18.024 takeoffs and landings.

In recent weeks, the aircraft has been painted in Corendon's colors in Rome. In addition, aircraft recycling company AELS has stripped it of all usable parts, such as the engines.

After transport, the aircraft will be placed in the garden of the Corendon Village Hotel Amsterdam. The aircraft will then be converted into a Corendon Boeing 747 Experience, which will open its doors in the third quarter of 2019. The hotel opened its doors last year in the former headquarters of Sony and with more than 680 rooms, suites and apartments, it is the largest hotel in the Benelux.

Unfortunately not in the original colours.
Have flown to Bangkok and back many times with this beauty.
All those new devices don't match a 747 for me

In the many years I have also flown with the 747 to Bangkok (not specifically) with KLM but with different companies. Still the last 4 years with the Airbus 380 and it flies a lot more comfortably. If I buy a plane in the future, I know it. Save up first.

A huge job that will also have cost a lot.

Even lampposts and guardrails had to be removed to make this transport possible, according to the news reports.

In an interview, the owner of Corendon talked about millions, but whether that only concerns transport or including the costs of purchase, refinishing, etc. was not mentioned, but I assume the latter.
