Reader submission: Beautiful films in empty halls
The first weekend of it European Union Film Festival in Chiang Mai is done. We have seen a few wonderful films, but unfortunately in barely filled rooms.
It is the first time for us, but from the stories I understood that in previous years it was very busy, but often unclear how to get tickets, and that people had often stood in line in vain to get the last tickets just before their nose go over the counter. Or maybe people think the paltry 80 Baht for a movie is too much. Or they simply don't know the festival.
Anyway, at least one European film can be seen every day until next Sunday. You can buy the tickets online (we did that without any problems), but given the crowds so far, it doesn't seem like a problem to just come to the cinema in Maya Plaza. A great opportunity to sniff some European culture. We are going again next weekend.
On June 17 and 18, some films will also be screened in Khon Kaen. There the entrance is free.
