Those who travel by car in Bangkok spend an average of 64,1 hours stationary, according to a study on 2016. Los Angeles is the city with the most traffic jams in the world.

According to the INRIX Global Traffic Scorecard, Bangkok ranks 12th in terms of traffic-heavy cities. Anyone who takes to the road in the Thai capital during rush hour spends an average of 33% of the travel time in traffic jams.

INRIX (Washington) collects and analyzes traffic data from vehicles and highway infrastructure.

INRIX announced this report with 'excitement' and people use texts such as 'a big survey with big data'.
I'm not easily impressed and just note that not all the places you would expect have been included in the lists.
For example, just to name a side street, rustic Manila shines through its absence.

I have the impression that the roads in and around Bangkok are getting busier because the number of cars and the number of kilometers traveled per car are increasing, but the number of roads is definitely not. The question is of course whether you should want that, but it is certain that the percentage of roads in Bangkok is very low compared to other world cities.

If it's 64,1 a year that's just peanuts, would be just over 6 minutes a day, I think a lot of BKK residents would sign up for this

Very well seen. Another study has just been published showing that in Haarlem the extra traffic jam time per day is 26 minutes, 155 hours per year, so much worse than Bangkok.

According to this survey, Mexico City is the 'winner' worldwide and Bangkok is in a 'beautiful' second place.

Here too I miss Manila again, while it really is the worst there:
“On a city level, Manila reported the worst traffic on Earth, with Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, and Jakarta not far behind.”

Lists, numbers and statistics. Nice, but never take anything for granted.
