Pattaya has a reputation and once you get it, it's hard to get rid of. The Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (DASTA) is going to do something about that. According to them, Pattaya should change from 'Sin City' to a cozy family destination.

Dasta deputy director general Taweebhong Wichaidit says that a plan is on the table for this. Officials are going to work to highlight certain tourist destinations in particular, such as Baan Chark Ngaew, Takien Tia, Nong Prue, Nong Pla Lai, Huay Yai, Khao Chee Jan and Khao Mai Kaew. Here, the local culture and nature are central.

As an example he mentions Baan Chark Ngaew, a 100-year-old Chinese community, which represents the Chinese vintage life. Nong Prue is another example of a religious and cultural dimension: a mix of Christian, Buddhist and Islamic influences.

Of course, Taweebhong understands that it will not be easy to change the image of Pattaya. Still, he thinks that by promoting alternative forms of tourism, more Thai and international tourists want to get to know nature and authentic local culture.

In a number of ways I understand that the Thai government wants to do something about Pattaya's one-sided reputation.

The idea and the plans therefore come across as credible, credible because it will not be an easy project and, moreover, it is not a good decision from an economic point of view.

After all, the trade and walking in Pattaya (that bad reputation) brings in a lot of money, so if one wants to make Pattaya a more good city, then the income will certainly decrease for the city and the Thai government…

So I would never do this, because you already have many families who realize that Pattaya has more to offer than booze, going out, and girls.

There are plenty of sights, entertainment activities, shopping, sports, excursions, etc. for those who wish.
And on the other hand, the more pernicious side of Pattaya also attracts many people (men).

The two types of tourists do not get in each other's way at all.

The tourist in Pattaya live and let live, I always knew it that way. So let it be, would be my advice to Mr. Taweebhong.

In summary: I think it's a superfluous plan, Pattaya has other concerns!!

In Pattaya, there is something for everyone. No one is bothered by the go-go's or beer bars. No one is bothered by the girls or men looking for fun. Those who want to eat well in classy restaurants can do so. Those who want to stay in a luxury resort also….there are fitness halls….tennis courts….shopping centers….markets….so don't worry about that.

I'm just agreeing with Pat, let Pattaya be what it has been for years and never kill the goose that lays golden eggs and will lay many more later.

As long as the police are co-owners of the many beer bars and a gogos, they will not disappear soon…

In Pattaya, Bangkok and there are more places happening in public that remain somewhat hidden elsewhere in Thailand.

There people stick their heads in the sand, but the authority does get something in the back pocket and the catering wholesalers, the suppliers of contraceptives, the doctors who have to treat 'little ailments' and the dentists benefit because the often drunk people beat each other firmly on the face .

I live in Nongkhai; fifteen years ago I had to look if I wanted a massage+ and now I have to look for a traditional massage where one does not start fidgeting or want to practice more intimate matters. Against a flap of course, only the sun rises for nothing.

You can't stop it, even if people show their teeth here now and then and such a tent - with the press there - is evacuated and, what a surprise!, only ladies from Laos work here who are here illegally, shame on you, and hop across the border. No, Thai girls don't do this, come on! For the stage!

Nature has to take its course, one has hormones, the other has a surplus of women of 600.000 at marriageable age, you can't stop it anyway so regulate it. And finally, as a white nose, be happy that you can do 'it' in this country without double-thick glass and the central heating at 26 degrees.

This is an out of the closet proposal. Has been published before. This man wants to live up to his position. One from the row of empty slogans and promises as there are many in Thailand. Talk, promise etc. to keep people busy and prevent protests.

Thailand really does not need Pattaya to offer tourists what they like, have been to Thailand several times, also nice holidays without visiting Pattaya! I have also been to Pattaya several times without disliking or regretting it . Everyone is free to go or visit what they want, or be interested in what they want! They should not exclude or change reputations or attractions, which are still very popular, for that! If everyone maintains their respect on both sides, it's already very good for me! Let's continue to enjoy what there is to enjoy in life!
