Heavy to very heavy rain is expected in the north and northeast of Thailand today due to tropical storm "Koguma", the Thai Meteorological Department said.

At 04.00 a.m. Sunday, the tropical storm — with maximum sustained winds of about 65 mph — was centered over Vietnam's Tonkin Bay. The storm is moving westward at 15 km/h and was expected to make landfall in northern Vietnam today.

In combination with a monsoon, isolated heavy to very heavy rain is expected in the northern and northeastern provinces of Thailand. The following provinces must take this into account:

In the north: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit, Phitsanulok and Phetchabun.

In the northeast: Loei, Nong Khai, Bung Kan, Nong Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Kalasin, Mukdahan, Khon Kaen, Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Si Sa Ket and Ubon Ratchathani.
