The Thailand Meteorological Department (TMD) has issued a weather warning for the upper and southern regions of Thailand, where unsettled weather with heavy rain is expected from November 3 to 6.
The TMD warns that a high pressure area from China will bring cold temperatures and strong winds to northern Thailand, the upper southern region and the South China Sea. Due to these weather conditions, the temperature in the north is expected to drop by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius. Especially on mountain tops and in high altitude areas, temperatures may feel cool to cold in the morning hours.
In addition, a monsoon trough extending over central and lower southern Thailand on November 3 and 4 will bring further intensified weather conditions. Moderate northeasterly winds will affect the upper Gulf of Thailand and upper southern region, resulting in widespread heavy rainfall in parts of the south.
On November 3 and 4, heavy to very heavy rains are expected in the provinces of Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Ranong, Phang Nga and Krabi. This rainfall may cause local flooding and other disruptions in these areas.
Additional provinces will experience persistent rain from November 5 to 6, including Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat and Phuket. Heavy rain is also expected in the aforementioned provinces during this period, including Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Ranong, Phang Nga and Krabi. Residents in these areas are strongly advised to remain alert to the weather conditions and prepare for possible weather-related issues.
