When is your flight ticket to Bangkok the cheapest? According to Skyscanner, that is 29 weeks before departure. You save almost four percent on the cost of your ticket. The cheapest month to fly is May.

The company analyzed millions of flights booked over the past three years and compared the average price for a return flight with the booking period.

Skyscanner uses the data obtained to give travelers insight into the optimal time to book their flight tickets to book. Those who have determined their travel plans for 2015 do not book 'as soon as possible', but wait for the right moment.

Each destination has an optimal booking period

January is the ideal month for many to book a flight for the summer. However, the Skyscanner survey shows that you often do not get the lowest ticket price in this month. For example, do you want to go on a city trip to New York? First of all, it turns out that it is best to go in February and book sixteen weeks before that – in October. This way you save more than ten percent on a plane ticket to the Big Apple. You take a trip to Istanbul in November; for the best price you can book no less than thirteen weeks in advance. That sounds long, but if you realize that you save more than thirty percent on average, it's worth keeping an eye on. If you want to save on a weekend in London, it is advisable to book nineteen weeks in advance for an average saving of eleven percent, and it is best to book a stay in January.

Flight tickets to Bangkok

The most advantageous period for a plane ticket to Bangkok bookable is 29 weeks before departure. You save almost 4 percent. That's not really spectacular, but it makes a difference. The month of May is the cheapest month to travel to Thailand to fly.

“Airline ticket prices change every day. As this research shows, it depends not only on the airline or online travel agency and the day of departure, but also on how far in advance you book,” explains Linda Hoebe of Skyscanner. “To book the cheapest flight ticket, there are a number of things that you as a traveler can pay attention to. For example, if you want to determine the optimal booking time, set a price alarm via the website. You will then receive a warning via e-mail as soon as the price of a ticket for your destination rises or falls. And do you think flying from Schiphol is too expensive? Then consider departing from, for example, Brussels or Düsseldorf. That can also sometimes save you a lot of money.”

China Airlines' reduced fall price will take effect at approximately the beginning of August. China Airlines always has a fall offer, so check the site first when it starts.

An unscientific research that needs to be criticized. So here we go:

    – The Arab airlines are cheap at the beginning of the year. Until January 22 you could buy a return flight to Bangkok from Qatar for € 457,50, with Emirates until January 25 for € 497 - € 522 (depending on which flight you take. The stop in Dubai is in the cases between 2 and 3 hours). Prices will only increase after the dates mentioned, with "offers" in the meantime, but certainly no longer at this low price.
    – The KL(e)M world deal weeks are not spectacular, but for those who really want to fly KL(e)M, they are cheap times to book
    – The exchange rate of the US dollar and the oil price (and ultimately the liter price of kerosene); Oil is cheap and fuel surcharges have already dropped at some airlines. They can also rise again. Because “old stocks at high prices” (a reason not to lower fuel prices immediately) suddenly disappear like snow in the sun when the oil price rises again. Apparently there are no stocks at low purchase prices. And then the US dollar: As we have seen in recent weeks and months, the Euro has fallen sharply against the US dollar. That saves 20 to 30% compared to a few months ago and since fuel and ticket prices are traded in US dollars, the price in Euros will be higher (despite the fact that the basic price in US dollars may have remained the same).

In short, nice story from Skyscanner. Handy site for comparison, but every experienced Thailand veteran knows when a good deal comes along and you have to strike.

Could be a nice story, but the cheapest tickets are always via skyscanner! They come up with the websites on which all ticket prices can be seen, including their own airline website. I then always compare it and it always works out. (if you need 4 tickets at once, make time for that) You don't have to be a Thailand veteran…..Price higher in Euros? Saudi Air has become 200 Euro cheaper and Qatar Air, Lufthansa, Etihad price stable on the dates I MUST leave. I've been comparing since the beginning of November. I need tickets at the end of next month. No euro has become more expensive. Coincidence?

Ok, let me make it clearer: Skyscanner is a very handy tool for comparison. My criticism is not on the site itself (great site), but on the value I attribute to the research.

And ticket prices will start to rise in the coming months; What limited the sinking of the Euro at first, since Christmas it has fallen seriously. Currency differences are absolutely calculated in the ticket price. No airline will let/allow 20% turnover because the euro is sinking. To make it even more extreme; Do you think that with the exchange rate of the Ruble falling by almost 50%, the Russians still pay the same amount for a return ticket to Bangkok than they did a year ago? I do not think so..
