Thai Airways may buy or lease 38 new aircraft
Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob has given the green light to Thai Airways International Plc (THAI) to purchase and lease 38 new aircraft. There is a price tag of about 136 billion baht. THAI has been making significant losses for years, so the unions are against the investment.
According to Saksayam, this is a necessary investment and it will be monitored whether the purchase of new aircraft will actually increase the competitiveness of the Thai national airline.
The workers' union of THAI is against the large debt of more than 100 billion baht that THAI already has. Saksayam says THAI needs to invest as its existing fleet is aging, and these kinds of steps are necessary to survive. THAI will be asked to develop a new pricing strategy to increase competitiveness.

When will Thai fly to Schiphol again?
Maybe as soon as Brussels is too expensive or no longer interesting.
Jet Airways from India has already moved its flights from Brussels to Schiphol for the same reason... And I don't think they are the only ones who have left Brussels...
Or maybe Thai Airways will expand its destinations or rearrange its flights…
It is not stated when those aircraft will be delivered and which aircraft (short or long distance) it concerns…
Knowing Thai: I think they will wait until the planes have been delivered and only then decide on which connections they can use them… Logical, right?
Waiting and hoping…
But know that if one society comes, another may also go…
If Thai Airways wanted to, it would not be possible if another company does not surrender so-called slots – or if Schiphol is allowed to expand the number of flight movements.
Dear readers,
We never fly Thai Airways because of far too high prices, we always fly Business Class as once we arrive in Bangkok we immediately fly on to Chiang Mai to our company there.
My wife (Thai) flew once with Thai Airways and was very disappointed, very narrow seats and the space for the legs on the tight side, I would feel very uncomfortable with my 205 cm tall.
I understand that they want to purchase new aircraft, but wouldn't it be better to adjust the space a bit at the moment, as the son of a former chairman of an airline, they had Boeing 737 and Boeing 767 in their fleet, every airline can arrange its aircraft as he/she want that. After my father, the successor wanted to cross the ocean, which had to be done with other larger aircraft, which ultimately led to bankruptcy. Many people sometimes see it way too big, especially politicians, with all the consequences afterwards, most if not all politicians think they only get their own benefit from it, just like here in Thailand, sometimes you have to listen to the unions, the ordinary people, but yes, look at Belgium, politicians hardly listen to the population, only their posts are important. What happened to SABENA was only due to poor management and too high prices.
Why is Thai Aiways heading in the same direction? Some politicians see a great opportunity to enrich them and do not understand which banks still want to lend if you have such a (100 billion Baht) deficit. If the population goes to the bank for a loan, you must be able to put one or the other against it, otherwise you will be sent walking…. When is that going to stop, everyone can only buy better services and ensure that the politicians do not lose sleep over that. They should try to sell their old devices first and buy new or newer devices with that money. and not AND AND
.Thank you for your attention.
