The death of the Thai king Bhumibol Adulyadej has only had an impact on the number of tickets booked and the flight price to Thailand for a short time, writes NU.nl, citing figures from comparison website Vliegtickets.nl.

King Bhumibol passed away on October 13 at the age of 88. Despite the fact that approximately 13 percent fewer airline tickets to Bangkok were booked in the week after the death of the Thai king compared to the previous week, this decrease was more than compensated in the following week of the month, partly thanks to campaigns by various airlines.

“Airlines responded almost immediately to the changing demand. Because the prices of tickets to Bangkok have been lowered, more airline tickets have eventually been sold,” said a spokesperson for the comparison site.

KLM launched a campaign in October that also included airline tickets to Bangkok. As a result, the sale of airline tickets rose by 47 percent compared to a week earlier.

I've been back from Thailand for a month and paid 550€ for my ticket at Qatar
We fly in 5 weeks and pay a return to Bangkok for 3 months €890 pp evergreen de luxe with EVA AIRE
Prices have barely dropped compared to last year .
Please note that you should book BEFORE December 13, we were a little too quickly, hence the €890.
But 1 day earlier and € 100 cheaper
.High season starts on December 13 for most airlines.
    Exceptions.!!!!

The Thai economy does not feel very much of the fluctuations in the number of airline tickets. Only from Thai Airways the amount remains in Thailand, not from all other airlines.
More decisive for the Thai economy is the spending of foreign tourists or business people in this country.
