EVA Air says goodbye to Boeing 747
Many of us will remember it fondly: the impressive EVA Air Boeing 747 that we once flew to Bangkok. EVA has been flying from Schiphol to Suvarnabhumi with more modern Boeing 777-300ERs for some time now, but in my opinion this aircraft does not have the grandeur of the 747 jumbo jet.
But all things must come to an end and so does this majestic aircraft. The airline from Taiwan flew the last long-distance flight to Vancouver with this type this weekend, and will say goodbye to the 747 at the end of August. The airline will operate its last flight on August 21, between Taipei and Hong Kong.
EVA Air flew with the Boeing 1993-747 since 400, the aircraft is replaced by the Boeing 777-300ER on long-haul flights.
The majority of the old Boeings have been sold to the cargo companies UPS and Atlas Air. The Boeing 747 is disappearing from the picture with more and more airlines. In Europe, KLM, British Airways and Lufthansa are major users of the type, but there too the aircraft is being replaced by more modern and, above all, more economical aircraft.

The Elite Class in the EVA AIR 747 was great, you thought you were in Business Class………..!!
It's a pity that Eva doesn't use their Boeing 777-200ER much, I preferred a certain seat in economy where you could stretch your legs even more than in their premium economy...and no extra charge...the 300ER doesn't have that.
We have already flown to Bangkok a few times with a new aircraft. Lots of leg room, good seats and a larger screen. A comfortable aircraft.
Well,
I just had a quick look at the official registration, but the airline is officially called EVA Airways, I didn't even know that and I flew with it so much.
Enne David H, Looked for that, Eva Air has never had a 747-200, only 747-400 in passenger, combi passenger / cargo and cargo planes. Two passenger aircraft are still active and five cargo aircraft. (all 747-400, so no 747-8)
It is a pity that the Boeing 747 is disappearing, it is still the most beautifully designed aircraft.
Like a swan in the sky. Secondly, I think the 757 is the most beautifully designed aircraft, even if it is being discontinued and that while many companies are asking for it.
Gerrit with melancholy
David H also writes 777-200 ER and not 747-200
@Gerrit, that's what you do with all that melancholy and tears in your eyes for that jumbo 747..., that you don't read a posting properly and confuse aircraft numbers,
I have only written about their current models, and the Boeing 777-200ER has a very generous leg length in a certain economy seat due to its placement (and no, not on the doors)......
The 747 was and is an extremely recognizable aircraft and you cannot say that about the 777.
Quite an achievement, to be the undisputed largest commercial airliner from 1970 to 2007.
The A380 that took over the title does not exactly have a striking appearance. Rather clumsy.
It is remarkable that the aircraft was designed to be converted into a cargo aircraft, since in the design phase, the second half of the sixties, it was believed that everyone would fly supersonic in the foreseeable future in aircraft such as the Concorde, which I personally height, but became a drama from a commercial point of view.

Mi needs to take EVA next steps quickly with regard to the renewal of their fleet. Look, for example, at Western airlines, but also at China Airlines and Singapore Airlines. The Boeing Triple Seven, B-777-300ER has been around for more than 20 years, so it also slurps more than the current new jets.
The Evergreen Deluxe Classe was fantastic at the time! I always took a seat in rows 20 to 25.
