Although the demand for domestic flights is limited, Thai AirAsia (TAA) and Thai Vietjet Air are still competing with each other. Thai AirAsia will fly from Suvarnabhumi and the current user Thai Vietjet wants to use more routes.

TAA CEO Santisuk said Suvarnabhumi has easy access to Bangkok and high potential for connecting international flights. From September 25, TAA will begin operating four new routes from Suvarnabhumi: Chiang Mai (five times daily), Phuket (three times daily), Krabi and Surat Thani (each twice daily).

Now that the borders are closed to international commercial flights, Suvarnabhumi is interesting because it can offer more slots and space for domestic airlines.

Chairman Nguyen Thi Thuy Binh of Thai Vietjet Air (TVJ) is committed to opening new domestic routes. TVJ has a fleet of 11 jets that it wants to use to expand its domestic network. The airline has recently introduced flights to Udon Thani, Hat Yai, Khon Kaen and Nakhon Si Thammarat. Flights to Ubon Ratchathani begin in September, followed by Surat Thani in October. The airline expects to serve a total of thirteen domestic routes with eleven destinations.
