The European aircraft manufacturer Airbus delivered 629 aircraft to customers last year. The company thus loses the battle for most deliveries with major competitor Boeing.

Because that American concern previously announced that it had delivered 723 aircraft in 2014. It is the third year in a row that Boeing trumps Airbus. It is a production record for both companies.

In another area, Airbus did beat Boeing. Airbus received 2014 new orders throughout 1.456, while Boeing received slightly less: 1.432.

In total, Airbus now has 6.386 orders, enough to keep busy for the next nine years. Boeing has a total of 5.789 orders.

Last month, Airbus delivered its first A350XWB to Qatar Airways. This new aircraft must compete with Boeing's Dreamliner, which has been flying around since 2011.
