Dear editors,

Cool site, but still have a question. I am in possession of a NON immigration visa 'O' that expires October 3, but at the end of June I will go to Belgium until September 19.

Logically, I will receive a stamp around December 19, but I wish to apply for an extension based on pension. When should I do that? I thought myself before my visa expires, so before October 3? Or can that be done later before my three monthly installment expires?

Do the same rules still apply in relation to application extension? 800.000 baht on a Thai account two months in advance? Do you need proof of where the money comes from and a bank statement? Update bank book? Anything else??

Thanks for any responses,

Josken

Dear Josken,

30 days before the end date (from 45 days at some immigration offices) of your last obtained period of stay, you can apply for a “Retirement visa” (extension). In your case, if you come back on September 19, you will get a stay until December 18 (if I count correctly). You will be able to submit your application from 18 November (or perhaps even from 3 November).

Everything you need to apply for your extension is clearly stated in the Dossier visa on the blog. Read it through. On pages 22-24 and 31 you will find the answers to all your questions: www.thailandblog.nl/wp-content/uploads/TB-2014-12-27-Dossier-Visa-Thailand-full-version.pdf
The first time, the amount must be on the account for 2 months. For follow-up applications it is 3 months.

Not sure? You can also go to immigration before October 3 (expiry period of your visa) and ask them when you can apply for the extension. They will then give you a date from when it is possible. You can also immediately ask which financial proofs you need from the bank. Please note that some only accept bank receipts that are only 24 or 48 hours old.
