Dear Ronnie,

An elderly man of 82 years old lives here in Changmai. He has an AOW benefit of 1100 euros per month. A pension of 200 euros p/m. So far he has had it done by an agency and paid 25.000 Thb. for an annual visa, + the 90 days is done by the agency.

I think it's illegal.

To you the question is that possible, according to the calculation I made for him. (see attach).

Greetings

Hans

Dear Hans,

1. Being assisted by an “agency” is not illegal. As long as the assistance is done within the legal framework, there is nothing wrong with it. Of course something like that costs money because they don't do that for free.

But it will be no secret that many also rely on such "agencies" to get around certain immigration requirements. Then you will of course go illegally and the price will probably depend on the requested services. I always find a very dangerous agreement, although many will laugh that off…. but everything goes well until it goes wrong of course.

2. His income in itself (1100 Euro + 200 Euro ) = 1300 Euro x 33,.. Baht = +/- 43 000 Baht is insufficient to obtain a year extension based on “Retirement”, but for a “Thai marriage” .

I don't know how that "agency" manages to obtain a year extension for him, but it will probably know the way to do so. I think everyone can answer for themselves the question of whether that is legal.

3. For his annual extension based on “Retirement”, he can also apply the combination method himself. He must therefore prove a bank amount, because it will not work with the income alone.

To prove the income of 1100 Euro + 200 Euro, he will also have to present a “Visa Support Letter”.

The total of his income on an annual basis will then be (1100+200) x 12 = 15600 Euro or 15600 x 33,.. = +/- 515 000 Baht.

He must then supplement that amount with a bank amount of at least 285 Baht to reach the annual amount of 000 Baht.

All amounts are, of course, dependent on the exchange rate actually used.

4. 90 days of notifications are free in themselves. Shouldn't he even do it in person.

Regards,

RonnyLatYa
