On July 28, I entered Thailand with my girlfriend on a METV. Officially this ends on September 18, 2019. Upon entering Bangkok, I received a stamp valid until October 22, so immediately an extra month. My girlfriend and I want to return to the Netherlands together after the rice harvest.

Do I still have to renew on September 18 when my visa ends? I prefer to only make a border run in Nong Khai, just before October 22, to go to the Netherlands together around November 22. And in this case a “re-entry” permit is required since my official visa will have expired by then.

Thanks in advance for your advice on this,

Gerrit

Dear Gerrit,

1. Regarding the period of stay obtained with an METV, I can already say that it ends after 60 days. Even if the immigration officer made a mistake. So just to be sure, go to immigration for more info.

2. Could you please let me know the validity period of your METV, because it is 6 months. If you only entered on July 28, it seems to me that that period has already passed. Or have you used them before? Is somewhat unclear.

3. Receive an METV every 60 days, you can always extend it by 30 days. And, if your METV would have expired anyway, you can also make 2 border runs on Visa Exemption, each of which you can also extend by 30 days.

4. The sense of a “Re-entry” completely eludes me here.

Regards,

RonnyLatYa
