Dear Jan

It's legal, but also pricey for what you get I personally think. But everyone is free to do so of course.

Perhaps there are readers who take advantage of this and want to share their personal experiences?

“Many people have or will have problems with visas.” (quote)

I don't know what "a lot" is, but I don't believe it at all.
The rules change sometimes, different immigration offices have different rules but I think that has been the case for many years. And there are still many foreigners who live here permanently or not.

But I think you still have to meet the conditions as now for the annual extension.
    And what about the Re-entry?

For those who have the money for it

Our insurers in Hua Hin also have this card in their program, as I recently read on this blog

Come on, Jan, don't be so gloomy! Now I just read today that the Immigration should be 'nicer' towards tourists and long-stayers. That's what the big boss says, one mister Big Oud..... Although rules remain rules of course....

What advantages does such a visa type offer compared to the non-immigrant? The only thing I can think of is the multi-entry nature of it. Apart from that: you still have to report your residence address every 90 days, you need a Thai driver's license like everyone else, you just have to take out health insurance. Maybe you will be treated with a little more respect if you start waving with “elite credit cards”, but we think you paid a lot for that.
Also take a look at the financial requirements. Single O and Thb800K on the bench is a better alternative.

Dear mairoo It's all a matter of how you look at it? In many cases, 4K must already remain on one Thai Bank? I say... GONE MONEY yes Nice for the relatives? Yes it seems expensive .... but calculate what some people spend on travel money hotels and Borderruns to Laos for example in 5 years time ... Cheap is sometimes also EXPENSIVE right?

I am in possession of an Elite Visa (5 years) and have therefore indeed paid 500.000 Baht. The money is indeed gone and will not come back.
This amounts to a small 100.000 Bath per year or even less. If, for example, I fly out and fly into Thailand 2 weeks before the visa expires, I will receive another year's extension upon my return (with a valid Elite Visa). So possibly one can have a visa for 6 years. Only in the sixth year one cannot use the Thai Elite service.

The Visa has only advantages for me and I will definitely take another Elite Visa later when it has expired.
    Advantages for me are:
No need for 800.000 bath in the bank.
    No annual renewal.
No re-entry visa required (I can fly out and into Thailand weekly if necessary)
    Very fast through immigration.
Can use the limo service if I stay in BKK.
Because I fly out of Thailand at least once a month, no problem at all when I return.
Annual visas are renewed upon each return.
Mind you, if I don't fly out of Thailand, I also have to report for the 90 days. Also TM 30 money with an Elite Visa.

    Happy holidays everyone
    Regards Antony

It is great that you are satisfied with it, it is not better to take the 20-year visa if you still intend to extend it after 5 years. Costs 1.000.000 once and is a lot cheaper in the long run.
20.000 per year instead of 100.000

Incidentally, 800.000 in the bank is not necessary if you transfer 65.000 baht to Thailand every month.

    • critic says up

See, that's how I was going to explain it. I also have an ELITE visa and the most important thing for me is that you don't have to have Baht 800K and 400K in the bank. I hate that I can't get my own money. I now use that money to invest and that is well above the Baht 100.000 cost for the visa 😉

    Dear Jan,
Well my answer is actually quite simple. SUPER that Thailand Elite Visa.
Ok if you have the money for it of course.
Here is a brief summary of our experience.
We have had the family Visa ad since November. Thb. 800,000 for 5 years
On arrival at Suvarnabhumi Airport we were met at the gate and taken to customs and that evening there were long queues for immigration far beyond the immigrate area. So bye everyone we went straight through the Fast Track and no waiting for 2 hours or more before you get a stamp. The limo was waiting there and took us home. So no more nervous hassle for every year that retirement visa or the ladies at the desk are in a good mood and are willing to accept you by the grace of God and don't have to have 800,000 bath in an account. They also help you to open a bank account incl. credit card. Ok I already had that but my husband didn't yet. Always causes problems to arrange that. There are also other things they can help you with, eg Driver's license. Not for me I had arranged myself long ago. So if you have the money and are willing to do it. DOING
    Greetings
    Robert

    • Mike says up

Again fine that you are satisfied, but if you have the 800.000 in the bank, the annual renewal is not a god's grace, but just a given. No one with the 800k in the bank will be refused.

Dear RonnyLatYa thanks for posting the question.
I've been following Thailandblog.nl for 6 years, but one Elite Visa is/wasn't known to me or I missed the topic?

Yesterday I read a comment on YT that with an Elite visa you would not need health insurance?
Yesterday I didn't have time to sort everything out… And thought briefly through the bend .. I'll ask Ronny.

With questions in mind .. if ... Suppose you have become uninsurable due to illness for one reason or another, is this visa an outcome? Do you no longer have to report every 3 months? etc

Chris says, for example: The rules change (ever)? Well Chris if Ronny would receive 10 euros for every question in the last year alone from people who had no problems for years but now suddenly get stuck or lack time because there are sometimes local differences in the rules, etc.?

And Chris there are plenty of old people out there who are bad or not at all able to handle a PC or have difficulty walking (or are very ill) with the result that any change is one too many ? If I/we get too much information, we will print it out!
They came when the BHT was high and now have to have 4 or 8k in the bank to be allowed to stay n visa.. Yes, of course your own fault? see : https://duckduckgo.com/?q=Expats+leaving+Thailand&t=ffsb&iax=videos&ia=videos

Thank you all for your responses and info
    Greetings Jan

Some additional information as obtained from the Elite Organization::
If you do not leave the country, you have to go to Bangkok once a year to realize the extension, you will then have assistance from the Elite organization.
You can do the 90-day address notification in Bangkok, with assistance, or at the immigration office where you live, without assistance.
A health insurance policy is not required.
(I wonder if this information is correct, Antony can you give assurance?)

    • Sjaakie says up

Have the information available now, a health insurance policy is not required.

      • ruud says up

Some time ago, a health insurance policy was not required at all.
The fact that, apart from the OA visa, no health insurance is currently required is no guarantee for the future.
Incidentally, if you are not insured, you must of course pay for the hospital yourself.
Not having to pay insurance costs is not the same as not being able to pay a high bill in case of illness.

    • January says up

Sjaakie maybe you saved one Thai marriage…or 1001 farang marriages+1001 beautiful nights? If it is true ? A health insurance policy is not required? That was my first thought about The Elite Visa ?
Are there people who are (not) forced to leave Thailand via this detour?
As a bachelor I think of EVERYTHING Sjaakie! Ha Ha
      In the Netherlands

  11. Anthony says up

    @Sjaakie,
You already found it yourself, but no health insurance policy is required for confirmation
Once again for me personally a very good visa.

    • Sjaakie says up

@Antony, thanks for this confirmation of a major point, now also confirmation of the Elite organization.

For people who like to throw their money down a well, this is a godsend.
Of course everyone is free to do this.

It is pretended here that the problems for obtaining a visa extension are enormous.
Correct if you do not have your affairs in order or do not meet the conditions.

With this Elite card you still have to meet the same conditions. Follow the same rules.
The only difference is that a nice lady or gentleman accompanies you.
Be honest, who goes abroad 2 or more times a year. Of course there are people who do this. But not the average expat.

    Calculate now:
1 x per year visa extension 1900 thb and maybe a day's work.
    90 days notification free.
Maybe 2 times abroad, 2 re-entries thb 3800 a day of work maybe.
You pay for the journey from the airport to Isaan yourself.
Total costs per year thb maximum 10.000 thb

THB 90.000 per year thrown into the well. Go ahead. Or better give it to a good cause.
I prefer to arrange everything myself.
