Dear Ronnie,

My question is how can I convert my Non immigrant OA visa to Mariage visa? We have been married in Belgium for 17 years and regularly stay in Thailand for longer periods. Have always been here with an OA and would like to change that. I also have my 800.000 baht in the Bangkok bank.

Regards,

Gery

Dear Gery,

If you are married to a Thai person, apply for a Non-immigrant O in Belgium on the basis of Thai marriage. A single entry is sufficient.

Easy to find on the website of the Thai embassy in Brussels or that of the consulate in Antwerp.

https://www.thaiembassy.be/visa/?lang=en#Non-immigrant Visa married

http://www.thaiconsulate.be/?p=regelgeving.htm&afdeling=nl

You can then extend that period of residence in Thailand on the basis of your marriage and then you only need half of that 800 Baht in the bank.

You can of course also opt for an extension based on “retirement”. The choice is yours. So you don't need a Non-immigrant OA at all. It's not more difficult.
