Questioner: Jan

Extension of stay after 30 days. Suppose I want to stay in Thailand for about 50 days, can I apply for an extension of my visa on arrival by another 30 days at immigration immediately upon arrival in Thailand? Or do I have to do that at a later time during my stay? Or is it better to apply for a visa in advance?

I would like to hear tips on this without mentioning corona states, these are known....

1. It is not a Visa on Arrival but a Visa Exemption, ie a visa exemption of 30 days

2. You can request an extension of those 30 days, but that is not possible at the airport. At any immigration office. Some will allow it right away, others will tell you to come back in the last week of your first 30 days.

3. You can also first purchase a Tourist visa at the embassy, as it is actually foreseen if you intend to stay in Thailand for longer than 30 days. You immediately get 60 days upon arrival and you can also extend it by 30 days if you wish.
