Questioner: Khun Moo

a) Does one have to leave the country every 3 months with this year's visa?
b) Do you have to report to the immigration service every 3 months?

a) Yes. That is, every 90 days which is not the same as 3 months.

With a Non-immigrant O visa, you can stay for a maximum of 90 days. Whether this is as Thai Marriage, Retired or whatever does not matter in itself. How often you can obtain those 90 days depends on whether it is a Single or Multiple entry visa.

Single is then one-off.

Multiple is unlimited within the validity period of the visa. For a Multiple entry that is one year.

You must then leave Thailand before your 90-day stay has expired. Upon your return, you will receive a new 90-day residence period. This is usually called “border run” and popular for this are usually the neighboring countries, but you can of course go to any country. The most important thing is that you leave Thailand, to where does not matter.

Other options after 90 days are:

– You can extend each stay of 90 days by 60 days once if you are married to a Thai and that marriage is registered in Thailand. Then costs 1900 Baht. A proof of marriage and the classic forms for an extension are sufficient. No financial proof.

– You can also extend each stay of 90 days by one year. I think the conditions are well known by now.

b) No.

A 90-day address report must only be carried out for an uninterrupted stay of more than 90 days in Thailand and each period of 90 days of uninterrupted residence that follows. When you leave Thailand, that count expires and starts again from 1 upon entry.

Since you get a maximum of 90 days with a Non-immigrant O and then have to leave Thailand, it is not an uninterrupted stay of more than 90 days and you do not have to do that.

If you go for the 60-day extension of your 90 days as a married couple, you will be in Thailand for longer than 90 days, but since the first extension also applies if a 90-day notification is made, this notification will be made automatically when applying for your 60-day extension.
