Questioner: Mark

I am going to Thailand in November for 30 days. If I wish to stay for a month longer, can I extend it at the immigration office in Chiang Mai?

How far in advance can or must you apply for this and do you need certain documents?

You can extend those 30 days at immigration by 30 days. Costs 1900 Baht. One week before your 30 days expire is sufficient. Some also accept it earlier, but that depends on your immigration office.

Standard is needed:

– TM7 application form

- Passport photograph

– Passport and copy of the ID page and Arrival stamp

– Copy TM6

– Copy TM30

– 1900 Baht

You can also apply for a Tourist visa before departure. You immediately have 60 days upon arrival.
