Questioner: Pete

I have to report again next week in Soi 5, Jomtien for renewal of my annual visa. Is there anything known about the closure of the immigration service or other measures due to the Corona problems or is everything running as usual?

Also the same story for the Austrian consulate?

Your info is appreciated.

As far as I know there is no intention anywhere to close an immigration office, embassy or consulate for that reason, or to introduce a limited service.

But perhaps there are readers who know of certain measures that their local immigration office or other government agency has taken for that reason.

No, they are and will remain open, from what I hear, read or know. If they also had to close, thousands and thousands of people would have problems with visas and all kinds of residence documents. The chaos at airports and borders would then become completely unmanageable. Then close supermarkets and markets, ban buses, trains and planes... wherever. does this end?
If one were to start with that, it is best that one simply forbids the entire world population to leave their homes, which is simply a totally impossible thing anyway..

We are no longer in the Middle Ages and corona is not the plague either.

The measures you mention are now underway in Italy. If that is the right course of action to contain further spread of the virus, then everyone, except a few, agrees. That corona does not manifest itself further when the plague comes due to drastic measures. Think first!

    Wish everyone the best,
    regards mart
