Thailand Visa question No. 036/22: Non-immigrant O

Questioner: Martinus

Because my partner is in hospital in the Netherlands, I cannot extend my NON-O visa in Thailand. Two questions:

  1. Can I also do the extension at the embassy in The Hague?
  2. If not, can I get a new NON-O visa again? This is because I do not want to take out health insurance, because I am already insured in the Netherlands.

Thanks for your help!

  1. At an embassy you can only obtain a visa, no extensions.
  2. You can apply for a new Non-immigrant O visa, but insurance is now also required for this.

E-Visa Categories, Fee and Required Documents – สถานเอกอัครราชทูตณ กรุงเฮก (thaiembassy.org)

Possibly leave on a tourist basis and then convert to Non-immigrant in Thailand.

Please note that there is currently an insurance requirement for anyone wishing to enter Thailand (including the Thailand Pass). It does not matter whether this is with or without a visa.
