I have a question about a trip that I am going to make with a friend to Thailand, among others.
We leave for Indonesia on September 12, 2015 for a month and then fly on to Thailand. We intend to stay here for 2 weeks, then travel to Laos (2 weeks), then to Vietnam (4 weeks) and then to Cambodia (2 weeks). Then we will go to the Philippines for 2 weeks, we have booked a plane ticket for that and we will then fly back to Bangkok and from there to Amsterdam.
We do not have airline tickets for the period Thailand-Cambodia. So we cannot prove that we will leave Thailand within a month. Can someone explain to me whether this is a problem and whether it is actually necessary to book a ticket to Laos? (We think it's quite a waste of money if it's not strictly necessary).
I hope someone can help us with this. We are now afraid that we will have problems at Schiphol or at Bangkok (we fly there from Indonesia). But perhaps this is not the case.
Hopefully someone knows what's going on?

Dear Romy,
Since you fly to Indonesia first, no one at Schiphol will normally ask about Thailand. This question could possibly be asked when leaving Indonesia or the Philippines, but I don't hear much about that. I therefore suspect that it is more something that is especially common here in Europe. But that too is decreasing, but it still happens, although not all companies are still asking that question.
Of course you can always contact your airline(s) with which you fly to Thailand and then you know for sure. Just do it by e-mail and then you always have proof if problems arise.
You will not be asked that question in Bangkok. On arrival you will always receive a “Visa exemption”.
