Schengen visa: Visa for my girlfriend from Laos
Dear editors,
I would like to make an attempt to have my Laotian girlfriend come over for an introduction to the Netherlands. I am aware of the Visa rules and have read the file here on the site. After reading some more on the internet (including the site of Foreign Affairs) I understand that it is possible to apply for this visa in Laos (Vientiane) at the French embassy.
Will this just be the same procedure, with the same paperwork?
Does anyone happen to have any information or experience with this?
Thanks in advance,
Mike
Dear Mike,
Yes in Laos, the French embassy handles applications for the Netherlands, among other things. So if an application via the Dutch embassy in Bangkok is not preferred, your girlfriend can go to Vientiane with the same papers.
The foreign national will have to meet the Dutch requirements: for example, the Dutch guarantee/accommodation papers or the 34 euros per day of stay per person if no sponsor provides a financial guarantee, France uses different amounts, but given that the stay is in the Netherlands, you have nothing to do with that. to make. So you can simply follow the instructions as published by the Dutch government on, for example, IND.nl and rijksoverheid.nl.
In outline, the requirements are of course identical regardless of the travel destination: negating the risk of establishment, plausible purpose of travel, maximum terms, fees, etc. You can therefore easily use the Schengen file, among other things, to help you prepare the application.
The disadvantage of an application through the French embassy in Loas is that in the event of a rejection everything will go through the French.
Success!
