Questioner: Max
I have a question about a retirement visa. Can you also arrange this online from Malaysia? I am going to Kualalumpur on December 6 and was thinking of making an appointment 2 weeks before at the Thai embassy there on December 7.
I have an account at Bangkok Bank that is used regularly, but does not have 800.000 baht in it. I do have an income statement from the German embassy with an income of 79000 baht per month. My visa extension expires on December 7, so I have to leave the country.
I have rented an apartment until March 25, 2024 for which I have a rental agreement.
If this is possible, what do I need for that?
thanks in advance
Max

Why not extend your stay in Thailand? This is possible a month or sometimes even 45 days before the end date. So already. If you already have a period of residence on the basis of Non-immigrant, you can still do this quite easily via immigration for a year.
Your income is sufficient because it must be at least 65000 Baht. At every immigration you will find a list of the requirements that people want to see there.
If you have the annual extension and are still going to leave Thailand in that year, do not forget to apply for re-entry first, otherwise you will lose that annual extension when leaving Thailand. The re-entry will prevent that.
If you still have a Tourist residence, you must first convert it to a Non-immigrant.
Please note that there are at least 15 days left before submitting the application. Still possible now.
You can read how here.
Your income is also sufficient here.
Afterwards, you can also extend the 90 days that you first obtained by one year.
- If you want to go via Kuala Lumpur, that is also possible and it is clearly explained on the embassy's website with a check or list that you only have to follow. Make an appointment.
Although it seems a lot easier to me to just handle everything in Thailand. Demand less anyway.

- Online applications via the Thai embassy in The Hague from abroad are not accepted.
