Questioner: Ron

I am staying in Hua Hin on a retirement visa that expires on January 13, 2025.

On December 7th I will leave for Belgium with a re-entry stamp and I will return on January 1st 2025.

Given the significant appreciation of the Thai baht against the euro, my monthly income currently falls short of the financial requirements by a few hundred baht.

I was previously denied a mixed income.

Upon my return on January 1, I will likely be denied a 60-day visa exemption because of my annual visa which is valid until January 13, 2025.

Do I need to apply for a one-month extension before January 13, 2025? Or are there other options?

Of course I can also make a border run before January 13 without a re-entry stamp. My visa will then automatically expire, and I can re-enter on a visa exemption.

However, I would like to hear if there are any other options.

What do you think?

It is not possible to extend a retired person by one month.

It would be possible if you had a Thai Marriage and that would be possible with 60 days. But if you had a Thai Marriage the financial side proving with an income would probably not be a problem either.

Apparently the combination method was rejected for whatever reason. I suppose the 800 Baht bank amount is not an option either?

You can hope that the exchange rates will become a bit more favourable before 13 Jan 25 and you can still get to that 65 Baht.

Otherwise you actually provide the solution yourself.

When you leave Thailand do not take a re-entry beforehand. When you leave Thailand your annual extension will expire.

On the next entry it will be 60 days on Visa exemption (you can extend it with 30 days). Maybe you can continue with that for a while in the hope that the exchange rates will become more favorable and then you can also convert that Visa exemption back to a Non-immigrant via immigration.
