'Risks for flooding at Bangkok airports low'
Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports are unlikely to be flooded, says Somchai Sawasdeepon, acting president of Airports of Thailand, the manager of both airports.
He bases his optimism on the raising of the flood wall around Suvarnabhumi to its original height of 3,5 meters five years ago, the capacity of a reservoir that now contains 5 million cubic meters of water (1 percent), two pumping stations with a capacity of 25 million cubic meters per day and 1 pumps from the Irrigation Department on the south side of the airfield with a capacity of 99 million cubic meters per day.
Air traffic will not be affected at either airport. Suvarnabhumi handles 11.000 international passengers per day plus 28.000 domestic ones. Bangkok Airways, Thai AirAsia and Nok Air report an increase in the number of domestic passengers. Nok Air, which flies from Don Mueang, has an occupancy rate of 85 percent. The other airports in Thailand are easily accessible because they are usually built on higher ground.

I live two km from DonMuang. Still dry, although it is getting closer with rangsit. For dDonMuang there is a warning to remove aircraft within three hours, as soon as the warning comes. That can be at any time, but also means that we as neighbors are warned.

don muang . Road from university to airport was flooded 12 hours today. Water is still rising. Our daughter lives there. This is near the large shopping center and therefore not far from the airport. It will be difficult to reach the airport from Isaankant.
