Pattaya Railway Station

Pattaya has several transport options but the train is hardly mentioned. It is not directly in the perception of the tourists and the people who live here.

The station is located in Pattaya East on the parallel road past Soi Siam Country Club towards Bangkok and therefore unknown to most. The train only runs twice a day. At 10.35 am it departs from Pattaya towards Ban Plu Ta Luang. But the nice thing about this route is that the train stops at the new station at the Floating Market. You can then walk around the Floating Market, buy some souvenirs, eat at a restaurant or take a boat trip. You can return by taxi with the train again at 13.30 pm.

The next station is near Nong Nooch Garden, which is two kilometers from the station and usually there are no taxis. Difficult to find transport there, unless something can be arranged in advance.

The same goes for the small station on the road to Kao Chi Chan, the Big Buddha, which is 5 kilometers away, towards Silverlake. This station is very nice to see and photograph. So if you want to experience a train journey, this is a possibility.

The train is back in Pattaya at 14.30 pm and then continues to Bangkok, this journey takes 4 hours, but for 30 Baht you have an experience richer. There is no train on Saturday and Sunday. The travel times are “flexible”, so make sure you inquire well before traveling by train.

Already taken the train several times in the early afternoon Pattaya-Bangkok, I thought 31Baht p / p. I wrote down the place names of the stops 19 times, then I stopped. On the train you get by with a drink or snack (usually fruit)
Arrival Bangkok +/- 19:00. Time to visit the night bazar to eat something and back to pattaya by bus or taxi.
    Always a pleasant experience.

There are a total of 21 stations between Pattaya and the large station Hua Lamphong.
      See my report https://www.thailandblog.nl/vervoer-verkeer/trein-pattaya-bangkok
Indeed it was a nice experience!

Indeed, nice experience this train ride. And for the cost, about 30 baht, you don't have to leave it. If you go with your Thai partner, the train is even free for them.

If only foreigners had to pay, the rate would probably be a lot higher than 31 Baht.
