The editors of Thailandblog have been receiving a lot of questions by e-mail lately airline ticket offers on our website. To clarify things, we provide explanations in the form of questions and answers.

Why do you post flight offers to Thailand on the blog? Do you get money for that?
No, we do not receive any money or free airline tickets for this. It is a service to our readers. Not everyone is handy with searching the internet or has time to follow the offers. The editors of Thailandblog does and gives its readers an advantage. We hope that due to the low ticket prices, even more Dutch and Belgians will visit beautiful Thailand.

You often see offers on Thailand blog that you also encounter at TicketSpy, do you work with them?
No, there is no formal collaboration. We do have permission to list TicketSpy's offers to Thailand on Thailandblog. You can of course also check the TicketSpy website yourself or become a member of their newsletter.

In almost all cases you show offers from the Netherlands/Belgium to Bangkok. But I live in Thailand and am interested in offers from Bangkok to Europe. Why do I see it so little?
Simply because there are almost no offers from Bangkok to Europe. Such a route is a completely different market for airlines. There is less competition and those flying from Bangkok to Europe are usually willing to pay a higher price for a ticket. Reason enough for airlines not to throw offers.

I sometimes see flight prices on Thailandblog that are very low, is it a one-way ticket?
No, we always state the prices of a return ticket. If it concerns a one-way trip, this will be clearly stated.

Recently I saw a flight ticket offer on Thailand blog, but I saw a better offer through another airline, how is that possible?
We do not pretend to have an overview of everything cheap tickets to Bangkok. In addition, prices are constantly changing. It is therefore wise to do some shopping yourself and compare on the internet.

Do you have any good tips on how I can score a cheap ticket to Thailand?
Yes, of course we have good tips for you:

  • Also look at the offer of airlines with a transfer, such as Finnair, Norwegian, Etihad, Emirates, etc.
  • With the Belgium route via Antwerp with KLM (departure Schiphol) you can save only € 300 on a ticket.
  • Look at the so-called Open-jaw tickets, these are often a lot cheaper. With an Open-jaw ticket, the airport of departure is not the same as that of arrival. For example, you depart from Amsterdam and land in Düsseldorf on the return journey.
  • Departing from other airports such as in Germany or Belgium can be cheaper.
  • Pay close attention to the announcement of the new winter and summer timetables of airlines, which are usually accompanied by special offers.
  • Booking your ticket early is sometimes cheaper. Research shows that the most ideal time is 54 or 104 days before departure.
  • Don't be too rigid with the departure period. Vary and see if there are any price differences.
  • Try another airline when it offers a cheap flight.
  • Also pay attention to the additional costs of the ticket broker where you book, otherwise you will still be expensive.
  • Join the newsletter of various airlines. Promotional rates are always first announced to regular customers via email.
  • If you see an advantageous offer, book your ticket immediately. Before you know it you're too late. Sometimes only a limited number of tickets for a promotional rate are available.
  • Remove cookies from your computer and hide your IP address through a proxy server. Airlines otherwise recognize returning visitors to their website and often show a higher ticket price.
  • Use an airline ticket meta search engine such as Skyscanner.nl or Kayak.nl. This way you can easily compare prices. At Skyscanner you can also set a price alert.

Good luck finding a cheap flight to Thailand!

I'm going to Thailand next year, Feb-Mar-Apr, but no matter which airline I'm looking for, it's not possible to book now. Let alone score a cheap ticket.
    Is it too long ahead?

Already booked a few weeks ago with China-airways for the beginning of February, costs; 655 return

the deadline to book a ticket online is 330 days in advance until the end of your trip. So May 1 plus 330 days is the last date of your return flight that you can book now. You can always try directly with the airline, but then it is difficult to compare prices.

I live in Bangkok and therefore always travel from Bangkok to Europe and back. Instead of spending all MY valuable time on the internet (opaque pricing policy, many possibilities, personal computer recognisability, uncertainty online payments) I always happily let an accredited travel agency do this. Simply specify your requirements, how flexible you are with dates, time, airlines and airports and ask them to make you some offers. It is a widespread misconception that tickets online are always cheaper than buying through a travel agency. And then I don't even use the American saying: time is money.

I bought a ticket from KLM a month ago for my girlfriend, who is coming from Bangkok this month. 655 euros direct. I don't think it's expensive

They do not sell tickets but refer you to the agencies where you can buy them cheaply.

Thanks to an article in TB, I was able to score a nice offer at Schiphol Bangkok, Bangkok Brussels with a 2-hour stopover in Delhi for only €416.
Departure next week May 8 .
    Kind regards and thanks Jan

Perhaps also worth mentioning is the site; paperflies.com
Launches every day with worldwide offers that are only bookable for four days.
Also today Amsterdam – Bangkok for €409,00. Keep in mind that booking costs will be added and not all dates are available.
I also booked with this site last year and then flew with full satisfaction with Egyptair and it also has large baggage limits.

    Greetings Pete.

I want information about a one-way ticket. One way from Bangkok to Amsterdam or from Amsterdam to Thailand. Always only see information about return tickets. But there are many men who want their partner (after having received an MVV visa) to come to the Netherlands. Think about that too.
I've been searching for weeks. Only come across expensive tickets or with stops in between.

      Adje,
One way tickets are easy to book from Bangkok for less than 300 euros.
Just use Skyscanner and you can see the price in a few minutes. Also you can see it for a whole month.
If you indicate an alert, you will receive the changes every day for the day you want.
Then just book. The more flexible you are, the easier and lower your price can be.
Search yourself, I don't think you need a Thailand blog for this... The Internet is willing and easy.
There are several sites but that aside.

Henk. That may be true if you live in Thailand, but it certainly does not apply if you want to book from the Netherlands. I searched via Skype scanner. Cheapest at the moment via Eva air. Prices only in Thai bath. And that leaves you with €600.

Are you looking well? I type in a random date in October, in Skyscanner - so not in the Skype scanner as you write - and the first 6 tickets that appear are under 400 euros, with the cheapest for 270 euros (at Norwegian).

    • Henk J says up

Norwegian airline seems to be the cheapest, but there are additional costs for luggage and meals.

      Skyscanner gives prices in Euro.
Direct flight is more expensive than with a transfer.
      Skyscanner.nl
Just look at selecting multiple dates and you have an overview

Of course you can book cheaper if you don't need your ticket until six months from now. Sorry, but I don't know if I'll need a single ticket in six months. And of course you can book cheaper if you book with stopovers. A direct flight from Bangkok to Amsterdam in 3 weeks? I'm stuck at around 600 euros no matter how hard I look.
