• Performance Thailand blog

Thailandblog has grown considerably in recent months. We are very happy with that of course. We have noticed that the performance of the website has decreased. By this we mean the loading time of the pages. At some peak times, our server even got overloaded and Thailandblog was sometimes unavailable for a few minutes. That happened last Sunday, among other things. Our apologies for that.

The current server, on which Thailandblog is hosted, is several years old and needed to be replaced. We have ordered a new (super fast) server and it is currently being installed by our technical people. The actual move will take some time. One of the most important tasks for our technicians is to set up the cache on the server and Thailandblog, so that we can easily handle the thousands of daily visitors. The loading time of the pages – also for our readers Thailand – will then become considerably faster, which is so nice. Just before the actual move we will inform our readers, Thailandblog may be off the air for a few hours. Of course we will try to limit the inconvenience for you.

With our new server we are completely up to date again and we can continue to grow in numbers of readers.

• E-mail notification of comments

When you leave a comment on Thailandblog, you can check the box to ensure that you receive an e-mail when someone responds to your comment. That's handy. Unfortunately, some think they can answer such an email. But that's not correct. When you reply to this e-mail, it will be forwarded to the editors. If you want to respond to someone else, do so on Thailandblog and not via the e-mail notification.

• New section: Reader tips

Do you have handy tips for other Thailand travelers or expats? Send them to the editors of Thailandblog.nl. We collect them and turn them into an article. You help other readers by doing so.

• Send us your diary or weekbook

The section 'Diary' and 'The week of…' is a huge success. We still have a lot of stories planned. Yet we also want to encourage you to write something. So… Who oh who will write the next episode of 'The week of…' or 'Diary'? Maximum size 700-1000 words. Send your text to the editorial address. Let us share a week in your life (The week of) or tell one or more fun anecdotes (Diary).

• More than 42.000 responses

There are now more than 42.000 comments on Thailandblog. That's an incredible number. Thailandblog is a very active community for and by readers. We are particularly proud of this. That is why we would like to thank all readers again for your often inspiring reactions.

I can only applaud your continued efforts to improve this blog. My sincere appreciation for this.

    Perhaps an addition:
Since there are multiple comments from readers with only a first name, it may be confusing that comments on an article are associated both positively and negatively with the same namesake on the Blog.

    • Yes, it is therefore better to choose a unique name. For example: Klaas-Sawadee

    Hello …

I can only agree with what is written above, this is indeed a remarkable, and very good site.
I myself don't know Thailand as well as many here. But I hope to move there permanently at the end of next year. I have to add that my brother is married in BKK, lives there, and is starting a big food business next month, so he can help me.
Nevertheless, I still read the Thailand blog with great interest every day, and switch with great pleasure and interest between the countless topics and videos, the more I switch, the more I discover ...
You have to like Thailand to really appreciate this Blog, but the first mail I open every day is from “Het Nieuws van Thailandblog.nl”, and probably many others with me.
Congratulations, editors, keep it up, I'm sure you give many Thailand lovers, myself included, a good feeling ... if it's good, that can also be said!

I totally agree with this response. First of all, a great forum that is always alive, many responses in all topics. And don't forget the editors. Keep it up I'm always happy when I wake up and have a new email in my inbox with the Thailand forum. A bit of warmth in cold Holland. And now a quick countdown to go back again…

I would say congratulations and keep it up. I look forward to it every day. You know how to keep it interesting and it reads very smoothly. I also read the comments and remarks and occasionally post them myself, and have to admit that it makes me long to go back there even more.(not for long)

In the next step I would outsource the management of Thailandblog to a cloud provider. Then you will never have to worry about servers and maintenance again. It's probably cheaper too.

Couldn't find the place where I could tell a little story so just do it. Last year my wife had a fish pond built, well so fish in was good, she buys them for 4 Bath the kilo and bring them later 30 to 50 per kilo on the side. Yes, I thought I would go the same as with the frogs when they were big enough, she thought it was too sad to eat them. But to return to that fish pond, her older brother saw that so he also wanted a pond. , So he also makes a pond like this and puts 2 fish in it. Now it turns out that those fish are fast-growing catfish, Now he is quite a thin little man so this morning she told my wife with tears of laughter that she has been trying for 3 days to get those fish out, but they are too big and too strong so the whole family laughs when they talk about it. So this is the kind of thing that made me love Thailand and people

Moderator: Your story indeed does not belong here. Please post where it belongs next time.

I don't know if I will notice much from a new server here on Koh Samui. The internet moves in waves here. And then they always talk about high speed internet here. That thailand blog will be out for a few hours will also pass me by. Last night again without power for three hours, only this time not the whole island.
