The main tourist areas and hotspots in Bangkok are still dry.

The floods still have parts of Bangkok in their grip, but fortunately no major tourist attractions.

Central Bangkok

In Central Bangkok, all businesses, hotels, shops and tourist attractions normally accessible. That is also the case for:

  • Khaosan Road.
  • Ratchaprasong (Central World area).
  • Phetchaburi Road.
  • Sathorn.
  • Ploenchit / Chidlom.
  • Siam Square / MBK / Siam Paragon.
  • Pratunam.
  • Silom / Surawongse.
  • Rama I Road.
  • Sukhumvit Road / The Emporium.
  • Rama IV Road.
  • Yaowarat (China Town).

Transportation in Bangkok

Both the BTS Skytrain and MRT metro are fully operational. Taxis and Tuk tuks are readily available. A number of bus lines are out of service or are being diverted. The Chao Phraya Express is temporarily out of service.

Suvarnabhumi Airport

Suvarnabhumi Airport, the international airport, is open and not threatened by the flood water. From Suvarnabhumi Airport you can take a domestic flight to, for example, Phuket, Chiang Mai and Surat Thani.

Transfers to and from the airport and to the center of Bangkok are operating normally. This also applies to taxis, buses and the Airport Rail Link. All highways from the airport to tourist destinations southeast of Bangkok, such as Pattaya, Rayong and Ko Chang, are open.

The two domestic airlines that normally operate from Don Mueang have diverted to Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Situation in Ayutthaya

The flooding in Ayutthaya has almost disappeared. Since a few days ago, they started cleaning and restoring the sights. The tourist attractions in Ayutthaya, including the World Heritage Site, will reopen soon.

Taxis are available but just won't take you. They're afraid of being sent into the water (I think) and won't even stop for you. I don't even try anymore and just walk right away.

Today there was a party for many thai because there was Pepsi for sale again. After living without living for days, I saw many Thais walking around with a supply of bottles.
