Thailand wants largest online photo album in the world
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has launched a new social media campaign in partnership with Google+ to create the world's largest online photo album. The photo album mainly contains photos of tourist attractions and Thai traditions.
The campaign will run from November 11 to December 10, 2013 under the name 'ThailandOnly (Share to the World)'. Visitors are asked to share photos of Thai tourist attractions and traditions via Google+ using the hashtag #ThailandOnly.
You can also easily participate yourself: Upload a photo yourself.
Guinness World Record
Apichart Inpongpan of the TAT says about the action: “Given the results of our previous online campaigns, we expect this campaign to be a great success. We hope the results are big enough to set a Guinness World Record for largest online photo album.
Using social media is an effective way to generate a lot of positive publicity with little cost. The Tourism Authority of Thailand has developed several online marketing strategies in recent years to promote tourism in Thailand. The promotion targets the users of mobile phones, smartphones and tablets. In this way, specific target groups, especially young travelers and families, can be reached worldwide. Social networks play an important role in the tourism industry. The internet has hugely influenced tourist consumer behaviour, especially the way people orient themselves and choose their destination.”
'”The Tourism Authority of Thailand has been using online marketing to promote tourism in Thailand for many years. At the moment we want to broaden our online marketing through new social networks such as online games and mobile applications such as Lifestyle Thailand and the SpeakThai Application. Both Apps are free to downloadApichart concludes.
Other projects
The TAT launched the Thailand Super Quality Portal (www.thailandsuperquality.com) campaign in April 2013. This campaign aims to improve the quality of travel and attract more high-end visitors.
Another campaign called “The Little Big Project” took place earlier this year and aimed to get travelers worldwide excited about volunteering in Thailand. This campaign won the Digital Innovation Asia Award 2013.
