Anyone who goes on holiday to Thailand can speak to enjoy top of his bucket list. Enjoy the good food, the warmth, the beautiful beaches, the beautiful temples and the friendly people. If you really want to experience Thainess, you should also have one Thai massage to attempt.

There are plenty of massage parlors in Thailand and whether you opt for a one-hour foot massage or a full-body traditional Thai massage, it's always well worth it! If you are in Bangkok, visit Wat Pho for a traditional Thai massage. Health Land Spa has many branches in the capital and offers a selection of massages and spa treatments with a high quality service. Let yourself be pampered!

You don't have to look far for a massage shop, you will find them in every street. You can even have a relaxing massage on the beach. You can choose a head, foot or body massage. If you are going for the first time and you are not very adventurous, choose a foot massage for the first time. For about 300 baht (€ 8,00), your feet and lower legs are carefully treated for an hour.

Afterwards you feel like reborn. All fatigue has disappeared from your body. What a wonderful country!

Indeed it is really enjoying those masages. Only when I was in Thailand for the first time and I got my first massage in my hotel was it different. My friends had said I wanted a firm massage and ate hurt a lot. Because I don't speak Thai and the masseuge doesn't speak English, I didn't hear anything like ouch and sorry for an hour.

I absolutely love Traditional Thai massage. So without the oil, and also without the Happy Ending. Really good masseuses who know the Wat Pho massage are scarce. Have you found one….. look no further. I always have a lot of awe for these masseurs/masseuses who master this version because it really takes a lot of strength in them thumbs in particular.
In the Netherlands I undergo this on average once a month (because of the price; 1 Euro for 65 minutes is the price at least), but once in Thailand….. daily. Delicious. While my girlfriend is shopping or at the swimming pool, I am lying on the massage table or mattress enjoying myself. Sometimes it goes a little too intense and you have muscle pain afterwards, but give it an hour and your body will feel wonderfully relaxed.
150-300 baht per hour is of course nothing. Worse; at most salons the masseuse only gets 50% of the money and the other 50% is for the salon owner. So when the massage is good, tip the masseuse personally after payment.

    Only drawback in both NL and TH;
that eternal tingle tangel nature music of birdsong and waterfalls……

I totally agree with the writer. Getting a massage is a blessing for the body.
During my travels in/through Thailand I have visited quite a few massage parlors. It is clear that there is a lot of difference in quality. Indeed, there is one on almost every street corner.
Of course it's just what you're looking for. From real traditional massage with certified therapists, to young ladies calling for a massage parlor who (not infrequently) are also open to delivering a "happy ending". Of course at extra cost :) :).

Privacy is something that is not commonplace in Thailand. In most (cheap) massage parlors you have to settle for a mattress on the floor. Changing the bedding is usually not an option, at most the cloth on the pillow. A curtain is sometimes hung between the row of mattresses as an expression of privacy. You can go here for about 200 Bath (€ 5,50).

If you visit the better mass salons, for which you also pay a little more (from about 300 Bath), then you have much more quality and privacy. The therapists are not shouting at the door and are well trained. The clients of these massage parlors often have their own air-conditioned room where they can be massaged, whether or not together with their partner. Some also have showers available where you can rinse/refresh yourself after an oil massage, for example.

There is a massage parlor for every budget, every quality.
I regularly stay in Chiang Mai and nowadays I regularly visit Chabaprai massage.

I wish everyone a beneficial massage. Enjoy it.

And oh yes, in most (better) massage parlors you can very well indicate that the therapist should massage harder or softer. You really don't have to suffer real pain.

Of course also fully agree with this article. Massage is indeed a “must do” when you are on holiday in Thailand, anyway.
Now it must be said that there is massage and massage, read “luxury” and “ordinary”.
If you go for the "luxury" then you don't pay 300 thb but 1.900 thb and more.
With a few exceptions, these are usually “resort bound”.
Such a massage is usually (always) very professional and the place of the event is guaranteed to be “clean”, not to mention the beautiful setting.
So doing this, I call this “acting crazy”, should be possible.
The “ordinary” massage, and here we end up in the busy streets or on the beach, is another matter. The standards are lower here (of course also the price) but it is no less pleasant, on the contrary. Blessed is such a massage on the beach with the sound of the sea, the music from the neighboring bar and the interaction with the masseuses is usually sublime (who does not like to laugh with silly jokes such as “how long do you stay here Sir ?" to which the answer is "one hour").
Daily fare for me anyway, not that I'm reborn then, but you know "having a good feeling".
I follow Lessram completely, I always (unobtrusively) give the masseuse 100thb in the poll and this is appreciated, she is happy, me is happy.
Final: Hard, soft or in between is possible and is usually discussed well in advance, even if it is through certain gestures and sounds 555.

No thanks…. I don't want to have strange people on my body.. and sit there waiting for two hours until it is finally kneaded. I feel fine without a massage. And you should know that I have already tried all forms of massage in Thailand. It's not for me.
