The Phi Phi Islands have become famous because of the movie 'The Beach' starring Leonardo DiCaprio, among others. The Tsunami in 2004 caused a disaster on Koh Phi Phi. After the devastating tidal waves, almost all houses and resorts were wiped out in one fell swoop. There were many deaths.

In the southwest of Thailand, in the Andaman Sea, are the Phi Phi Islands. The Phi Phi Islands are a group of six islands. These islands belong to a national park and have a total area of 390 km². Phi Phi Don is the largest island with an area of 28 km². Phi Phi Leh Island is a lot smaller at 6.6 km². The Phi Phi Islands belong to the Krabi province of Thailand.

Many boats depart from Phuket every day. It ensures that tourists come and go. The islands are very popular as a romantic destination for couples in love and honeymoons. But also backpackers and tourists who make an excursion from Phuket visit the island. Nice are the 'wild' monkeys that take food and drink from tourists. The clear water also makes it a great destination for snorkeling. The photos below show the splendor of these islands.
