Thailand is under the spell of two special events: next Sunday's elections but also the coronation festivities for King Vajiralongkorn, which will take place from May 4 – 6.

The area around the Grand Palace and Ratchadamnoen Avenue in Bangkok will be given a major facelift. Bridges and roads are given a new coat of paint or new lines. Hedges and trees are trimmed, public gardens are tidy and decorations are placed. By the end of March, the work must be 80 percent complete and everything must be ready by the end of April, according to governor Aswin.

The municipality of Bangkok expects the ceremonies to attract more than XNUMX people. Large video screens are being installed in parts of the capital to follow the festivities. In the Thai-Japanese Youth Center in Din Daeng, those interested from outside Bangkok can stay for free, and food will also be provided.
