Dear readers,

We have been going to Thailand for years, lately also as winter visitors. This year we want to visit the east coast from Chanthaburi and then make a tour in Cambodia and then fly to Koh Samui to enjoy the country and climate for another 7 weeks.

We can only find very brief information about the first part of our intended journey. We are not so young anymore and therefore limited in our possibilities to walk for a long time. Climbing and steep slopes are impassable obstacles for us.

Tips from experienced travelers would be most welcome.

Yours faithfully,

Jan

Google “Trat” and you will see several websites with information about the southernmost province.
For a nice report by backpackers see:

    What is Chanthaburi Province:
Beautiful beaches on the coast, but also mountains and rocks in the sea.
Inland are fruit, rubber and palm plantations.
Furthermore, there are mountains, waterfalls caves.

Nature is very beautiful and varied, but public transport and taxis and Farangs are lacking.

Do you mean from Bangkok or do you start in Chanthaburi?

Good reading is difficult………I think it clearly says FROM Chanthaburi…….

We have been wintering for years just outside Rayong, on the hat mae rumphung beach, beautiful beach, good connection with a songthaew to Rayong, where there is also a good hospital (perhaps useful if you are older) and where you can do your shopping well. For the rest it is not so touristy, but we like it very much.
Our visa run is always to Cambodia and we make a week's holiday out of it.

We also spent the winter at the hat mae rumphung beach a few times. Indeed beautiful beach but not from February / March. Then so much rubbish washes up that the beach slowly but surely becomes a rubbish dump. Very sorry.
