Mr Bean in Thailand
When I eat out with my wife and son here in Pattaya, it is regularly in a German restaurant on Naklua Road. That choice to go to that restaurant often is not only for the best food, but mainly because they almost always have a video of Mr. Bean on television.
I usually sit with my back to it, because I've seen the good man ripping into a Mini many times before and taking a picture of an English sentry. It's not really my kind of humor, but my wife and son enjoy it.
mr. Bean in Thailand
The English Mr. Bean now has competition in Thailand from a Thai Mr. Bean. A man from Phuket, Mongol Preechajan, has turned out to be an imitator of the English comedian, dressed in that eternal tweed jacket with a red tie and a bear in his hand as a mascot.
Performance in prisons
I came across the Thai Mr. Bean on the trail through an article in the AD, which reports that Preechajan regularly performs in prisons. See the message: https://www.ad.nl/bizar/gevangenen-liggen- Dubbel-om-thaise-mr-bean~a6b1de59
Television appearances
After appearances on “Thailand got talent”, the man has become very popular and often performs to show off his bumbling jokes and funny faces. There are several videos of him on the internet. I chose the video below, a performance in the program Workpoint, in which he shows that he can also sing a bit.
I read this week (on Bangkok Coconuts?) that the man has been doing this for quite some time and has obviously been a fan of Mr Bean since a young age. According to him, the tricky part is the expression, Mr Bean does not talk, it comes down to the exaggerated facial expressions and body posture. It takes some practice to get it right. Rowan Atkinson said of his own personality that Mr Bean is a child trapped in an adult's body.
