Airports of Thailand Plc (AoT) will upgrade its security systems at six airports in Thailand. There will be a total of 32 body scanners that will be able to detect both metal and non-metal objects, weapons and explosives hidden under clothing.

AoT president Nitinai Sirismatthakarn says that Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Hat Yai will receive the body scanners. Twenty body scanners will be stationed at Suvarnabhumi Airport, three at Don Mueang, four at Phuket, two at Chiang Mai, one at Chiang Rai and two at Hat Yai.

In addition to the full body scanners, the current X-ray machines will be replaced by 34 new machines, the so-called Advanced Technology X-ray, which are even more capable of detecting explosives in luggage.

I flew back from BKK to AMS last Saturday. I already passed the new body scanner via the fast track priority departure lane. The same type as at Schiphol. So the plans are already being implemented.

That body scanner you mean has been active since last year.
Anyone can choose to continue there. They give you the choice.

That scanner I am referring to is not available to everyone. Only for priority pass holders. Aircrew and graduates. In other words, the fast track lane. There is only 1 body scanner and 2 luggage scanners.

There is also a body scanner for "common people". Has been operational since last year.

That's right, I also went through the scanner at Suvarnabhumi last week.
NOTE: I put my backpack in a bin and I saw that everyone in front of me had to take off their shoes. So I did and I put them in a separate container. She made a mistake. I put them in one of the gray bins on the table. Of course it should have been a brown box that was on the floor.
I was looked at quite angrily. And rightly so, I should have known.
